Relevance to Thymalin
Nearly every longevity claim made for Thymalin in the consumer market traces back to this paper, so it deserves to be read carefully rather than quoted as a headline. The effect sizes reported here are extraordinary — a 4.1-fold mortality reduction is far larger than anything achieved by any approved pharmaceutical intervention in geriatric medicine — and extraordinary effect sizes from a single research group carry a correspondingly heavy replication burden. This literature sits well below FDA evidentiary grade: it is a Russian-language review whose full methods are not accessible in English, published in a journal of the same national research tradition that produced the compound, by the group at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology that developed and continues to promote the Khavinson peptide bioregulators. None of that makes the findings false, but it does mean they remain unreplicated by independent Western investigators and should never be presented to a reader as established clinical fact. The honest framing is that Thymalin has a large body of favourable in-house Russian clinical literature and effectively no independent confirmatory trials.
