Vascularity

The degree and quality of blood vessel development and distribution within a tissue, reflecting the density and function of the local vascular network.

Also known as: Vascular Density Tissue Vascularity

Vascularity is both a structural property of tissue and a functional indicator of how well a tissue can receive oxygen and nutrients and clear metabolic waste. High vascularity in healing tissue is generally favorable — it accelerates recovery by ensuring robust nutrient delivery to the repair site. In performance contexts, enhanced vascularity of muscle tissue is associated with improved endurance and recovery capacity.

Several peptides studied for healing and tissue repair — including BPC-157 and TB-500 — are hypothesized to improve tissue vascularity by promoting angiogenesis. The visible vascularity often sought in bodybuilding contexts reflects both low subcutaneous fat (which makes existing vessels visible) and the actual density of blood vessels within and around muscle tissue.
